Just anything better that what you might find at petco. I'm not looking to breed them or anything, but I'd like some nice looking ones.

I bought a pair of HM bettas from Biloxibettas.com. They came in great condition and he even sent me a beautiful extra free female.From reading on other forums have heard a lot of good comments about him and he apparantly always sends something extra. If you watch the sites that sell bettas you can usually get some nice ones on sale when they have new spawns and need to clear their stock. That's what I did. Got a beautiful pair for $10.00 + shipping. Shipping is expensive but when these Bettas usually sell for $25 a pair and up it was worth it.

Aquariumfish.net doesn't have good bettas really. They are just regular veiltails that you can get at your LFS, but they are more expensive.

I get my bettas on aquabid, since it seems to be the cheapest so far.

Frankly, I was quite pleased with aquariumfish.net..... Not only receiving one very long finned Splendens female, one "regular" Splendens female, and two BEAUTIFUL Crowntail females in EXCELLENT condition, I also experienced a very rare commodity these days prior to shipping --- WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Yes, prior to shipping I received a personal phone call in answer to a concern I had regarding the delivery and was also treated to an informative and delightful conversation about Bettas in general with a person who appeared to have a genuine and heartfelt interest....
Others have written about high prices on this particular site --- but I found the opposite to be true, once you add the shipping with the total of fish.... I purchased 4 Bettas and including shipping, the average price was about $14.00 per fish..... While higher than the local store, the price definitely falls in line with other online sites - including Aquabid, where a single Betta usually sells for no less than $10.00 plus shipping....
Another resource you might want to check out is your local fish store... I've placed a couple of "special orders" with mine (Jack's Aquarium) and have been quite pleased!
Though I haven't purchased from this site yet, I am keeping my eye on the stock offered at Betta Dreams as well.... This site has a striking presentation! Not only are the Bettas pictured, there is an option to see them in swimming action! Prices are reasonable for an online site...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Just checked out the online site suggested by wantmoretanks - Biloxibettas.com .... LOOKS QUITE PROMISING!!!!! Since I'm not a breeder at this point, I'm thrilled with their prices and offerings! I've sent an email to ask about a couple of things.... but am quite hopeful! Just to clear something up... A normal HM betta is still a splendens. There are such things as imbellis and such, but they are not sold nearly as often.

Dreamweaver, glad I was of help. The male I got looks just like Daniels's avitar and the female is just as beautifully colored. The free one he sent looks like pale shimmery blue silk. Very pretty.

Just wanted you to know, wantmoretanks.... I placed my first order with Biloxibettas.com..... Am expecting a pair of Mustard Gas Bettas along with 2 Green females.... CAN'T WAIT to receive them! I found the seller, Paul, to be VERY friendly, communicative and accomodating!!! And the prices??? OUTSTANDING for online purchasing!!!! Thanks again for this WONDERFUL lead!!!!!!

My favorite is BcBetta.com and I also get fish from a friend at Lorislabyrinths.com. I can suggest another place to look for links, and that's the Dmoz search engine. I should know, I've been adding them there.

Dreamweaver, hope you are pleased with your purchase. The mustard gas are beautiful. There are so many beautiful colors and fin types. I wish I had room for all of them. Maybe someday.
