My mom insists on using the tiny bottle of betta water conditioner (I forget what it's called, exactly). I can't fathom spending twice as much (or more) on a product that does the same thing and what I use, though. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

Seems to work just as well as the other products I've used -- but certainly is a lot cheaper!!! (I buy it at Wal Mart for about $2.00) Now granted, I use more than the 5 drops per every gallon as noted in the directions.... When doing my weekly vac/water changes I use an entire bottle for about 55 gals of water... Personally, I've never had much luck with the "stress coat" conditioners.... I always manage to get quite a "film" over everything - which eventually makes the water look cloudy --- but let's be honest! Since I don't have the patience to measure by drops per gallon - I'm probably over conditioning!!!! (Oh! If ONLY I'd been blessed with PATIENCE!!!!! To thine own self be true... |

T/A Mega Fish Posts: 942 Kudos: 1796 Registered: 20-Feb-2004 | Thanks for replies, everyone. I have only ever used StressCoat, but I just read some bad things about long term use of products with aloe. All my other fish have been fine, but I have not had luck with bettas. So I was thinking of trying a different brand for the next betta I get. Hopefully that solves my betta deaths. I want to try something without a lot of extra stuff. Meaning, all I want the conditioner to do is remove me |
