you could probably try it, but since they are both top dwellers, there may be some territory issues. it all depends on how big your tank is and the temperment of your gouramis.

It should work out fine. True they are both top dwellers, but Butterflyfish generally only claim small territories (such as one corner of the tank), not the entire surface area.

But you must accept the fact that you will probably be feeding the Butterflyfish live insects only, as they generally do not accept processed foods (some people have a problem with this).

depends..

what type of gourami, if it is a larger type(ie. blues etc......) than it should be fine with a butterfly fish, but if it is a sparkling gouramie, than it may become food.

I have dwarf neon gourami's with my butterfly fish and they all live quite happily together, no territory problems at all. They dont even acknowledge each other really.
