Yes, you can, but if possible get some females aswell.

Do you have more fish in the tank?.

I taught they would be on their own.
All those fish would be fine together & i would get 6 Otto's & not 3.

Sometimes it depends on the disposition of the gourami. Some are friendly and peaceful and others are mean and hateful (just like people....lol)

Give it a try, but be prepared to relocate one of them if nastiness breaks out, one can stress and harass the other to death.

hrm, are gouramis a bit on the teritorial side? is he chewed up bad or just nipped? if you are observing very aggressive behavior or he is beat up, take immidiate action, if you have a hospital tank i would put the newest gourami in it...

on the other hand, if he just got nipped at a little bit, since they are both larger, territorial disputes might break out till they both get settled (again, this is what i have read and been told by others that keep them, i wont have my gouramis for another week or so).

if its a few small nips i would say it might be expected, if the original laid back blue one seems stressed and is beat up badly, by all means pull the agressor out.

while fish agression sucks greatly in any case, if you want to keep those two together be prepared for some ruckas. if in another day the wounds are still fresh, i would say its time to take back the one you just got, they wont be getting along.

some fish are like humans in the temperment aspect. i have a supposedly docile BN pleco female. she is nasty, she kicks everyone in the tank around, if slapping them with her tail or headbutting wont get them out of her way and where she wants them, she will get even more agressive. my barbs pick on my corys but they dont mess with her. last time a barb picked on her she latched on his side with her sucker mouth. he didnt seem injured but it scared the crap outta him. moral of the story, if their is one, its not just the male female issue, or species compatabilty, sometimes its personality as well, lol.

As I am in the u.k the lfs won't take the fish back,
That sucks!
The wound seem to be healing, also It seems they nip each other only at feeding time,
Ok,
