Obviously they are three different fish. Your desc T. pumilus are very small, max size just over 1". They tend to be shy and require a tank temp of ~80° T. schalleri grows to a bit over 2"; requires soft, somewhat acidic water with a temp of 76-77° T. vittatus is again a species that is often shy. Max size similar to T. schalleri. They do require a warmer tank though and are often kept in a species tank because of this (79-84° ) All three need floating plants, and because of their size and temperament I personally wouldn't keep them with guppies and platies, which can be rather active. On a side note, you did ask Would they be ok in my tank?. We can only help you and answer that ba I spend a lot of time on this site and the members here try very hard to be helpful Last edited by Theresa_M at 27-Dec-2004 07:12 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Toirtis Mega Fish Posts: 1260 Kudos: 529 Votes: 6 Registered: 24-Feb-2003 | 3 livebearers (guppies or swords or platies) of the same gender, a single pair of sparkling gouramis, and 3-5 small corydoras (such as hasbrosus or pygmaeus) would make for a fine compliment in a 10 gallon tank, providing sufficient filtration...but what you are currently suggesting would be a bit much for that ten. |

labrakitty Fish Addict Posts: 740 Kudos: 435 Votes: 9 Registered: 12-Nov-2004 | the guppies are all male, and the platys are all female. I will move the bristle nose out when thye get bigger, they are only 2" atr the moment. So now would it be ok? Could you please tell about them anyway? thankyou. |

The bristlenose catfish alone fully stock the tank (or will, depending on their size) because of the huge amounts of waste they produce. Platies are pretty active fish, and like to have good amounts of swimming room. Plus, platies and guppies are really good at producing fry (if you have males and females), so they will take up space as well. The gouramis that you mentioned are really cool fish, but they just won't fit. |
