Then why even bother asking opinions here? It is obvious that you are going to do whatever you like despite the concensus of responses from experienced aquarists.

( done reading labrakitty threads ) you ask for help and everytime argue with those helping. your not arguing to find out what the issue it exactly your argueing about them trying to help you. you asked if they would be ok in your tank NO they wouldnt your over stocked as it is. there is no argument these are solid facts not guesses or opinions. empty out all your fish you currently have then yes you could keep sparking gouramis. short of that i agree with NO.

Many lfs sell Trichopsis pumilus, T. schalleri, and T. vittatus labelled as 'sparkling gouramis'. Obviously they are three different fish. Your description sounds like T. vittatus, but I couldn't definitely say without a picture.

T. pumilus are very small, max size just over 1". They tend to be shy and require a tank temp of ~80°

T. schalleri grows to a bit over 2"; requires soft, somewhat acidic water with a temp of 76-77°

T. vittatus is again a species that is often shy. Max size similar to T. schalleri. They do require a warmer tank though and are often kept in a species tank because of this (79-84° )

All three need floating plants, and because of their size and temperament I personally wouldn't keep them with guppies and platies, which can be rather active.

On a side note, you did ask
Would they be ok in my tank?
. We can only help you and answer that based on your current stock and tank conditions. Your BNs may only be 2", but they are commonly nicknamed 'poop machines' because of the amount of waste they put out, even at that size.

I spend a lot of time on this site and the members here try very hard to be helpful

3 livebearers (guppies or swords or platies) of the same gender, a single pair of sparkling gouramis, and 3-5 small corydoras (such as hasbrosus or pygmaeus) would make for a fine compliment in a 10 gallon tank, providing sufficient filtration...but what you are currently suggesting would be a bit much for that ten.

I recommend against adding gouramis, because your tank is full enough already. The bristlenose catfish alone fully stock the tank (or will, depending on their size) because of the huge amounts of waste they produce. Platies are pretty active fish, and like to have good amounts of swimming room. Plus, platies and guppies are really good at producing fry (if you have males and females), so they will take up space as well. The gouramis that you mentioned are really cool fish, but they just won't fit.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
