I was in PetsMart today, and they have crowntail bettas. They said it was a special offer, just for a short time only. I grabbed a beautiful steel blue - my first crown tail male (have a female from Wal-Mart, but she mostly white with red and purple fins). I just wanted to let everyone know, but it could just be the PetsMart near me, too.

for the past 6 months i been noticing that larger chain stores like petland discounts, and petco have been getting in crown tails for 7.99

that is way to much for a ct, but regradless they have been getting in crown tails.

They were $5.99, but when I got home and checked the receipt, it was the price of the regular bettas.

Congradulations on your new crowntail, sounds beautiful. I am glad you were able to find a good deal. I don't know why they were selling them for the same price, but it was OK by me. My crowntail had brightened up since I got him home. He now has a black body with blue and red fins. I have named him Showoff - since that is what he does best.
