I just picked up a Ctenopoma acutirostre at the LFS to add to my mainly SE Asian biotope 33 gallon tank (1 paradise fish, 1 Rainbow shark, 6 kuhlis, 2 geriatric otos, 1 clown pleco, and 3 amano shrimp).

I've been wanting one of these fish for ages (and have been researching them), and jumped when I saw a tank with about 8 healthy ones.

Anyone have experience with this fish they want to share?

Eric

i havent had one but my sister did and it ended up in a tank all by its self. ive read that there not that aggressive expet toward smaller fish. but he ended up killing almost everyone. they were in a planted 65gal. i dont know maybe he was just a meany. it was a pain geting him from tank to tank because of the spines. the riped a net opean.

I believe they are predatory but not very aggressive. It may eat your shrimp and any small fish it can fit into its mouth. Good luck.
