I'm looking at setting up my 2 foot tank for some Gouramis. How many would be ok and are Cories a compatible catfish for them?

Also - was planning on using sand as a substrate.. should this be ok?

I'd love any info from anyone who keeps Dwarf Gourami's as this is my first attempt with them!

cheers

Vanessa

Corydoras will be fine with Dwarf Gourami & Sand is ideal for the Corydoras. Don't make a thick layer of Sand, just half an inch, as you'll have bad air trapped & once in a while i would stir the Sand a bit as it compacts.

I would get 1 male & 2 females Dwarf Gourami & matbe you can add a school of other fish , apart of the Corydoras aswell.

A 2 foot tank can be anywhere around 20-33 gallons,
so it really does depend on the gallonage of your tank.
"2 foot long" really doesnt mean anything.
I would say go with a school of 6-10 corys depending on your gallonage of the tank, and then do 1 male dwarf gourami and several females.
I have had issues keeping DG's alive when there is
more than 1 male in the tank, despite having a large tank (75G). However, my best luck with these fish is when females are present and only 1 male.
So do this:
1 Male DG
3 Female DG's
6-10 Corys
6-8 Neons or Cardinals or Harlequin Rasbora,
or Pencilfish, or Lemon tetras, or Dwarf Rainbowfish.
