Dwarf gourami variety | |
Budzilla Enthusiast Posts: 288 Kudos: 197 Votes: 90 Registered: 18-Jul-2006 | Today I got a pair of dwarf gouramies. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what color variety they are. Their face is a light powder blue and the rest of their body is scarlet red. I think their the flame variety but I'm not sure because I'm new to gouramies and the tank that I got them out of just said Dwarf Gourami. -Vincent |

juwel-180 Enthusiast Posts: 291 Kudos: 212 Votes: 17 Registered: 07-Dec-2005 | As u all ready have 2 males u are going to need about 4-5 females and arather big tank to stop them from fighting. This fish is not happy until it has every female in the tank. And it will prob kill the other male while doing this. How big is your tank And is it well planted |

waldena Hobbyist Posts: 117 Kudos: 80 Votes: 71 Registered: 30-Jan-2006 | If you have the Neon Blue Gouramies it can be trickier to tell the difference than with a 'standard' DG. As bettachris said the females are pretty much grey, while the males have a red colouring. It is obvious on a standard DG, but with the coloured varieties you will need to look closer. Go to the profiles section of this site, check the labyrinth fish and have a look at the Colisa Lalia profile. The photo on there is a male, a female won't have any of the red colouring. Hope that helps. |

Budzilla Enthusiast Posts: 288 Kudos: 197 Votes: 90 Registered: 18-Jul-2006 | I finally found 1 female last week and had it in a quarantine tank. 3 days later it was dead from dropsy. It shows the benifits of quarantine. If I didn't keep her in their the other fish would also be dead. Well my LFS is getting a new shipment of females this weekend. I'll try it again. -Vincent |
