I liked the thick Lipped too, great personality. This is a tough poll for me I haven't seen a gourami yet that I don't like. aquatexan Banned Posts: 151 Votes: 1 Registered: 03-Aug-2004 | Yeah the indian banded ones are rare. I have only seen one, and he was BEAUTIFUL. I would have made it a choice cause of its SHEER beauty but not many people know what they are, sadly |

I like the basic dwarf gourami, but I also really like the flame and Powder/Neon blue versions! |

morpheus21 Fingerling Posts: 21 Kudos: 22 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-May-2004 | [vote]Other (please specify)[/vote] Really hard to choose as dwarfs are such beautiful fish as are pearls and I love my blue gourami as he seems to have such a great personality and is the only fish I have that looks straight at me as though he's thinking something. Just bought a pair of Indian Banded gouramis on saturday and they are great, they have a great personality and they are nice and active, aren't too colorful yet as they are young but if they colour up like the pics I have seen of them they will undoubtly be my favourite gourami. Had no idea they were rare in the aquarium trade altough this was the first time I had seen them for sale but they were only $4.30 each which is half the price of dwarfs where I am and they're very common. bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | Just make sure you do indeed have an Indian Banded. They are very very similar to the Thick Lipped (Colisa Labiosa) the best way to tell is by the anal fin. The Indian Banded has a very pointed anal fin where as the Labiosa will be round. Color wise they are almost the same. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

I also had a male three-spot gourami. He had a great personality, thought he was king of the tank He was called 'Pig' because he would eat anything & everything. I was very upset when he died and stayed away from gouramis in general until recently. So now I have: pearl gouramis sparkling gouramis paradisefish spike-tailed paradisefish three-striped croaking gourami Right now for personality I like my paradise fish best. For looks...wow, that's tough too...I think I'd say pearls I don't have a big interest in chocolate gouramis but I would like to someday get licorice gouramis ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
