Female bettas in plant tank? | |
Forever-mango Fish Addict Posts: 611 Kudos: 586 Votes: 35 Registered: 01-Dec-2003 | I was wondering if I could put female bettas in a planted tank with 2 tiny BN cats? Because my guppies look old and thinking what I can put in my 2ft next. I have about 6 female bettas in jars right next to each other and they seem to be fine. If my guppies do die...will they be ok in the 2ft? |

Puttig bettas whith other "Nice" fish you know you do not want to put a betta with fish that are going to rip its fins off. It should not be a problem as long the ph and temp is all good for both types of fish. I had a female betta that I kept with some guppies and plants they all did fine, but the tank I had them in was too small and the filter was junk that was my problem not the combo. Oh yeah and from what I understand Female bettas can live all together in a big enough tank but sometimes you will have some females not get along. So give it a try and watch out for any bullie fish that might stress the others. [span class="edited"][Edited by snowflake311 2004-06-14 12:00][/span] |

If you have a more dominant fish, add her LAST so that the less aggressive fish have time to settle in and so the aggressive one is at a bit of a disadvantage. Do this when you have plenty of time to watch the tank. I keep six betta girls in a twenty gallon long along with six black neons, three cory cats (who are getting more friends soon) and one BN plec. The girls are some of my favorite fish. Mine are insatiably curious and playful. I like them more than the betta boys, because you can see their interactions with other fish, which brings out their personalities even more. My girls love to snuggle into my plants and will each stake out a plant or leaf to curl up in at night. They're adorable and really are quite the stars of the tank... except when the cories are frolicking about and leap frogging over everyone. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
