I'm going to have to overnight them in my hotel room but I'm sure they will be fine. I may bring a bottle of dechlor and change the water before coming home. ~ Mae West |

Nah...we just have the most fish shops per capita for any municipal centre in Canada, the best fish shops, more disposable income, no PST, and more corporate headquarters than Toronto....oh yeah, and zero provincial debt. Life is 'betta' in Calgary! |

I'll have to ask my LFS if they can get anything for me on special order. I know they have suppliers in Asia, if I'm not mistaken they occasionally get fish in from breeders in Thailand. I wonder if they could put in a special request for me. |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | Betta sp. Mahachai Betta imbellis Betta splendens ALL WILD CAUGHT! I'm of 2 minds about wild caught fish. On the one hand i'm very upset they are yoinked from their natural habitat, but on the other, with the cities and pollution increasing, we better get some captive breeding going now, or we will lose them completely. Wild caught splendens are WORTH IT. Not all that pretty, but bulky and self assured, while at the same time, very loving. Male Splendens: Callatya attached this image: |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | The Mahachai is 'to be described' So technically its Betta sp. Mahachai, named after the city where it was discovered. It looks similar to imbellis and smaragdina, but more turquoise...? They are THE pretty wild according to the Thai, so i bought a pair of those too. Callatya attached this image: |
