I just recently bought a pearl gourami for my 90 gal tank. I am quarantining it in my 10gal. Could I buy a Dwarf gourami to go along with it in the 90 gallon, or possibly another pearl or moonlight gourami? I would like 3 or 4 if possible. Other fish I plan to add are... 8 or more marbled hatchets, 4-6 coolie loaches, HOPEFULLY 2 discus, and MAYBE a black ghost knife. If I cant add the discuss or BGK then I'll get a school of serpae tetras or tiger/rosy barbs.

When I used to keep Dwarf gouramies..they never had probs with my pearls. Some had probs with each other..and other fish..but not the Pearls.
Personally, I'd go for at least a trio of pearls ( a male and 2 females)..for them to have some of their own company..which they seem to enjoy.
I have 7 now in my 125 gal and they swim together alot..

The Dwarf should be fine with the Pearl especially in a tank that size. I keep Dwarf, 2 spot (female), Indian Banded together no problems.

Girlunderrainbow is correct though that Pearls are one of the few gourami that actually seems to enjoy each others company. So you have a few options.More Pearls or Dwarf, probably both depending on how you go with the resy of the stocking.

Personally I'd keep away from the BGK, they can get huge. And definately be wary of the tiger barbs/serpaes in that set up , the glorious pearl fins would probably be too much for them to resist and I don't think the Discus would be too happy.. Maybe go for a school that's less nippy.

Yes good point about the barbs nipping...just realized that. I didn't think the serpaes would nip. What are other good tetras I could use.(I'm trying to make it REALLY colorful)

As for tetras, I really like Black Neon Tertras. Really nice looking, they get about two inches long.

I recommend getting a moonlight! Really pretty fish, and would go great with your pearl.

Serpae are the nippiest of the tetras. Could go for a nice big tight school of Rummy noses. Very colorful, silver, red, black, white and a touch of green all on one fish

If you can get hold of them Blue Emperor Tetras are stunning (after a while)

Or a school of Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish is pretty colorful.

Yes, I like the looks of a moonlight gourami. I think I may get one of those along with a DG. Also I'll get either rummynose or emperor tetras. Are the emperor expensive? I know they are kinda rare. I wanted congos at first but they are $15 USD each!!!!!!

Holy crap, $15 for a Congo !!

Ok you are asking the wrong person about prices,I know I'm proudly flying the Irish flag butI'm living in Indonesia at the moment and for most people here $15 is a weeks pay.

I had a school of Congo's I bought here, they were 25cents each. The Emperors sprung to mind as I just saw some for sale at the weekend and I was drooling, very nice fish, nowhere near full coloration but you could see a bit of purple and blue coming through. They were only 20cents each, but unfortunately my tank is full.

I think I'll have to get into the fish export business sounds like there's a profit to be made !
