Has anyone ever successfully kept bettas with gouramis? I don't know if I want to try it, but I would like some imput, thanks

Generally labryrinth fish shouldn't aren't a good mix. I don't think there are any straightforward 'rules', so I'd only recommend trying something like that if you have a backup plan in case things don't work out.

In a 20g I've successfully kept honey gouramis, sparkling gouramis and a Betta coccina together without problems; in another tank I have a male paradise fish with a snakeskin gourami.
