I've seen products like these before, and I do not recommend them unless they actually hold at least half a gallon of water.

Although I am not particularly fond of this chain, I got my Petcetera flyer today, and they have a new 1 gallon betta tank on sale this month (starting Saturday) a new 1 gallon 'mini aquarium starter kit' that includes a compact fluorescent clip lamp and a small HOB power filter (about 40 gph, I think) for $30 (regular price is $50).

Stephane, those kits are OK for a betta, they are about the very minimum water volume I would keep them in at 1/2 gallon. BUT those "betta kits" are just Small Pals containers that can be found in a larger size. I am sure you can get them in a 1 gallon size and if I remember correctly there are also 2 gallon ones available. If you can find the larger containers, I highly recommend getting those instead.

Another option is the MARINA "Goldfish" Starter Kit....I would never put a goldie in one of these but they make fantastic betta tanks, especially if you get a small heater. The price is pretty good too. Goldie Kit CLICKY

Forgot to add, just in case you don't know: DO NOT feed the goldfish flakes to your bettas as a staple food. It doesn't have the right nutrition for them and will eventually lead to health problems. I HIGHLY reccomend Hikari Betta Bio Gold.

Oh and fishyhelper: Everything fish-related in Canada sells for exorbitant prices. $30 for a 1 gallon tank with everything included is a good deal unfortunately.

I dunno...crowntails & shortfins (show quality Hong Kong imports) for $4 each, AquaClear mini filters for $17...its not hard to see....and you can travel home on our petrol, which is $0.12-$0.15 per litre cheaper than anywhere else in Canada!

Dunno 'bout up by you, but in the US, you can find a decent one gallon kit for like, ten bucks. It's kind of triangular and has a built in light as well as coming with a UGF. *shrugs* They come in two gallons (which I believe are hexes) as well. I forget the brand, though.

Those one gallon sorts are about $15 here (or about $5 used)....but for the extra cash on the one I showed, you get a HOB powerfilter and a CF light....well worth the extra $15-$20 in my opinion.

Oh, it looks like a great kit, I was just mentioning a more "bare bones" type deal if you don't want to spend the extra money. *shrugs*

that goldfish kit is horrible, eventually a goldfish's head would barely fit so sad to see things like that sold

the tank size of your bettas is ur own bussiness!]:| but 100000000etc. gallon tank is good for a betta.(n.e fish really) but really a 2 -5 gallon is all a betta really needs.
