I finally got some GIRLS!!! | |
trystianity Mega Fish Posts: 1028 Kudos: 926 Votes: 49 Registered: 20-Mar-2004 | They don't have names yet, they're sisters and just over an inch long. I tried housing them together but they were fighting so for now they've been separated to their own bowls. I just got them today and I love them! They're so adorable and have a lot of personality. I'm going to make a mesh tank divider to see if I can slowly get them in the same tank, if not I will probably put one in a 5 gallon, one in my 10. They're practically identical and sorry for the crummy pics. It's hard to get a good shot of a tiny betta on a 10 yr old digicam. :%) I introduced them to one of my males, Gollum, and one of the girls was trying to flare at him through the glass. Gollum is close to 3 times the size of them, all he did was go to the edge of his tank, flared out his gills and the girl hid under her plant. It's hard to be tough when you're small. I LOVE MY NEW GIRLS |

Where I am at, they actually carry multiple species of females. Not the Jack's, but other LFS. There are several big breeders around here, that have different species. HTH...... There is always a bigger fish... |

I've been looking at their ray extensions and they appear to be deltas but they are still quite young so I'll be watching their finnage as they get older. Unfortunately one of the poor girls came down with ich last Friday, but I have been treating with Jungle's Ich cure 2 and she has made a full recovery. I am looking into breeding a few bettas in the spring/summer, i will probably try cambodians and reds. |

They are EVERY bit as brightly colored as the males (without the long fins of course) and are gonna look great in my big tank. At my LSF, they told me that lately females are selling better than males! They think more people are learning about how you can keep them together. But he says in the summer, more people still buy males. Interesting huh? -Dennis |

Surprisingly, they almost always have some betta girls in stock. They also have other interesting fish like Rams and polpterus (sp?) that I haven't seen at too many places. Go figure |
