They're gorgeous! I don't know why more petshops don't carry female bettas. They made a great addition to my tank.
Here they are: http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v253/CrystalStone/PICT1636.jpg

Your females are very pretty!!

I think that most petstores don't carry them because people think they are not as flashy as the males are.(Boy are they wrong)

WOW, she's awesome

I know that some LFS here will order some for you. I had luck just going to a W*****t and finding some. And I think that they have more personality then the males.

Congrats on the girls, they're both very pretty!

I don't know if it's my bad luck or what but the 2 red females I've had have been on the rather agressive side. Just a warning

lol, females are almost as common here as the males.

but yeah females can be just as aggresive as males, just like males it depends on the individual, i've had some that made great for females community, then i have had some, that where so aggresive they beat up everything, even had one once that beat the crap out of a male during breeding.

anyways good luck

Very pretty... your red one looks almost identical to mine... I got her at Walmart and she is healthy and beautiful... one of the best looking females I've ever seen. The Walmarts in my area all seem to get females in but I think they get in about 2-3 in each shipment, versus a ton of males each time. Some of the smaller LFS in my area also carry them... we checked the last time we were out and this one LFS had about 8 in a community tank with RTBS... they didn't look good, lots of missing fins, marks on sides from fighting, one was completely missing her tail.... so from now on I'll stick to getting my females from Wal-Mart. Anyhow, as far as the red ones being aggressive... mine is in with 11 2-month old platy fry and she swims with them and hangs out and doesn't seem bothered by them at all.... I think it just depends on the fish.

So far they are getting along great together and with the other fish I have in there. I can't get over how pretty they are! They've already started coming to the front of the tank to do the hungry betta dance when they see me walk by. Bettas have such great personalities!

I always enjoyed having a female betta in my community tank, and also enjoy them in their own tank. I've always found them to be peaceful, relaxed, beautiful fish.

Great pictures. The beauty of the females is why I got three for my community tank. But I haven't had much luck taking pictures.

Jake-I really like the colors of your female. The ones I find around here tend to be solid, darker colors (reds, blues, etc).

I do have a male with similar coloring to yours though
