houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | well as most of ya'll know I bought a betta of some sort (still not knowing if lucky is male or female) back in march I believe... now i went to petsmart night before last and of course you have to look at what they have and look at the bettas and leslie goes and pulls this one guy out that is basically a platinum colorin his cup at the store and here he looked to have a blue tinge on the tips of his fins, come to find out, he seems to be a pure platinum in color, with no blue tinge, and has black eyes... Now for the question, that i'm sure is gonna be no, but hey i have to ask... lucky is wussy, heck he doesn't say or do anything even when the corries try to spawn with him well he does get a funny look on his face but nothing else:%) this little guy, yet to be named went flying up to the side of his little bowl for now till i can get him into the 2.5 gallon tonight...and while Gofish (leslie's older betta) is flairing like a fool and having a fit about someone being even on the counter with him, this little guy (he really seems to be relatively young as far as size goes) just looks at him and shrinks away, trying to become as small as possible, so he seems to be whimpy hisself... think I could put him in the 125 with Lucky? I wouldn't go and immediately dump them together, I think I would get 2 breeders and put them side by side to see their reactions...or just get one and put the new guy in it, and let lucky swim by on his own and watch how they react...what do ya'll think? it would be awesome to be able to have 2 guys (I'm still assuming lucky is a guy) in the one tank...but if it means them battering each other to death i don't want it to happen...but if there is a possibility that i have 2 whimps i'd be willing to try breeding nets to check it out...tell me what ya'll think...i'm gonna quit ramblling now for ya'lls sake and mine, and when i find the camera i'll take pics and post them heidi until then here is lucky houston attached this image: "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I wouldn't overrule the possibility but they might fight even if they're whimpy. Lucky looks like a male plakat to me(long ventrals, longer pointed anal fin). I've bred plakats once(chocolate x blue&yellow) (near the end of last year) and still have a dozen or so around my house. You might not have much of a problem in such a nice big tank with them (space to have territories), but I would try the breeder nets as you mentioned first, and then keep a close watch on them for several days if at all possible.
