Is this tank good enough for a betta? | |
Ogrt48 Fingerling Posts: 39 Kudos: 16 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Jul-2005 | Hi everyone, I got my first fish today which is a beta and ended up getting this for a tank since I don't have too much money. I just want to make sure its really ok for a betta. I got him about 5 hours ago and he likes to swim around a lot ^_^ He'll take some breaks every now and then and hide behind the plant but then he goes swimming again... Pst he needs anger management.. he loves to beat up the fake plant >< Anyways heres the tank kit http://www.petlanddiscounts.com/detail.asp?product_id=426143 |

I'd watch to make sure it doesnt warm up too much. Also, fake plants tend to have sharp edges that can tear fins. Silk or live plants can be used if it becomes a problem. Congrats on your new betta and giving him a good home in that 5 gal You should post some pics soon. I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |

The water feels kinda cold when i put my finger tip in it but the things said its 86 steady now for hours. :\ I wasn't even planning on getting the fishie but when I was snooping around the pet store I noticed they had 30 some coke glasses on the wall with like 8 ounces of water with a fish jammed in each one >< Decided to try and "save" one of them. |

katieb Fish Addict Posts: 697 Votes: 69 Registered: 03-Jul-2004 | It really isnt easy to know how old a LFS betta is. Ive heard that most pet store bettas are around a year old when you buy them, but im not sure how true that is. The average life span is about 3 years, so dont fret. I have one that i think is pushing four I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |
