Heis an eager little bugger I set him up with a female lateyesterday, no major flirting, but after getting back from toun, there were eggs I dident take the female out, because i dident see a need to, now i'm glad I dident, they are going at it yet AGAIN! The first time, I counted 55 little eggs poking from the bottom of the nest, but i am sure there was 3-4 times that many nestled inside, now there are even more! I knew that female was *extra* fat

lol, you people are alot nicer to talk to compaired to the people on UB they kept compairing him to a mutt, and saying how his fry will never sell, and that viels arnt worth breeding anymore, only *fancy* bettas are worth it...But who cares..I just love all my guys and girls

oh, and there are more eggs now lol, I took her out, becasue she was getting huge again, his nest couldent hold anymore lol,

OOooooOO

more

look how clean they keep unde the nest

long after spawning, the female hangs around to help clean up, and drop some more eggs to add lol, the male just wants to mate again lol

female before spawning

You would never believe this was AFTER she spawned

its funny b/c when people tell me that, they often refer to ct's as being worth breeding, but i get my deltas, some HM and cts for the same price as veils. .75 each.

so dont worry about them, they see the cts at the chain stores selling for more now, but really they aren;t worth anything.

just tell them to breed white bettas and i want a spawn of 100% prue no wash whites, thats the only thing i consider worth it really. ulimate genetics

but anyway it is a shame veils can't compete and watch soon it will be short tails can't/ but anyway i am sure they will be lovely.

dont forget katie, that some of them probably haven't bred anything worth showing like we had. i use to breed (b4 crown tails were the "hot" betta) steel blue king cross crown tails, with crazy finnage.

lol, I think they just buy the best stock, to get the best stock, it realy isnt you who bred them, but I take complelty different fish, and get some pretty good ones ..to me, its cheating to go get all realted fish and breed them...and then call it your strain

thats why I'm getting 20 HMPK from one breeder, and 5 HM from another..I'm going to invent something.. *expecialy with that melano male*

If we don't hold onto the veils we'll lose asymmetrical tails and some of the base colour lines that are currently being muddied up by the crossing of metallics etc to get new fashionable fish.

Besides, they remind me of arabian horses with those tails, and extended red is just my absolute favourite colour, and is SO HARD to find that exact red on anything but VT lines.

The young will sell, because pet stores genereally don't recognise the fancier types as worth more or even healthy (CTs often get turned away because of the ragged appearance, and DTs are considered damaged) and then there are people who just like locally bred veils to they know that they accept the local water source

My absolute favorite are the veils, in fact I've never kept or had any desire to keep anything else. And I have to agree that the pure reds have been and probably will always be my favorites.

You male is really nice and something to be proud of.

Thank you sooo much, it means alot, realy..

Link to the post I made, and the responces I got

All the zygotes hatched The male had to first clean up after his girls mess *adding unfertilized eggs to the nest* than he had to clean up after the mess I made The way I made the nest base, was I pinned 2 bits of styrofoam together and then taped it, he had alot of fry out of the water, so, I pulled the pin *not as easy as it sounds * and then, it turned into a raft, with the bubbles in between the 2 slats, the fry then have alot more to hang onto, and the male can still have his nest, nad total controll, I love my inventions

I read the responses you got on the other site, fishyhelper, and I think what they said was apalling. I guess sometimes the more serious show breeders can get too caught up in having the best looking fish rather than having the best time raising the fish, so their advice leans in one direction. (I don't mean to insult anyone... just an objective opinion, by a person who had never heard of the IBC, of that one thread )

I really hope your bettas are doing well! I think it's great you bred your beautiful fish! I'm not quite brave enough to try breeding yet...

well, i got over it..i'm not the type to stay angry for long, but if it does happen again, I will for sure be leaving..*ok, its happend twice...so I guess i'm going by the 3 strike thing*

They fry are doing excelent!!!!!!! NO losses from anyhting, although, if I haddent checked a heater for a set of breeders, they would have been boiled!!!!!! the water was OVER 90F and almost getting to 100F but, they were still flairing at eachother, and acting like nothing was wrong the temp is at a nice 85 now, and when I realesed them it was..carnage....I realy dont think this pair was ment for eachother, the female was fighting like a PK going for the gills, but when he got her on the side she ripped at his tail like a terrior! and even when I put her back in the jar they still were trying to get at eachother, I'm gunna give it a while before I release her again, like a week or somthing..when things cool down between them, they were raised with eachother, so I dont quite know why they hate eachother *not a realeted pair, she is slightly older than him*

They would make awesome babies the male is an aqua blue and green Ct and the female is a royal blue CT

thats why i always loved breeding short tail males. no finnage to be destroyed. i have also found that they dont tend to be over aggressive when dealing with an aggressive female. i think i only had one short tail male get finnage damaged, but that was when i added him with another short tail male that i thought was a female. i guess one of those rare sexing mistakes.

with the temp, i had a stupid heater that went crazy and the water was about 100*F, and my short tail male unfort didn't make it.

anytway, good luck with the fry.

in one corner, i counted a little over 20, in the plants, from my angle that i could see, I say around 20, and about that time, i quite counting, because they were now zipping every where for food, and i dident know if I was counting some more than once lol but, they wer getting very large already, already bigger than yesterday, sort of the guinipigs this bunch is, and so far, I'm sold on the egg yolk, although I do have to do a water change today, but stragely, I added it yesterday, and it hasnt molded yet..but I also dont want to give it a chance.
