my wonderfull black female betta (not the one i bought, the one i bred and got) already has her breeding stripes she is in a 5 gallon with 5 other younger bettas (2 i raised, 3 were dropped off my funnyfish..and i think she forgot them) anyway... she is practicly begging this younger male to breed with her (he is less than half her age, but is a little bigger than she is) good hting he isnt mature yet..otherwise those would be some wierd colored kids

but she is ready to breed (not sure how old she is in months, but she is a little over an inch long and had a normal growth rate) so i may drop her in with a dark steel blue male im attempting to breed, he has black in his genes too, and has a wonderfull display of crowning ..probly the best i have ever had

i think it would be too fast.

i often find little 3/4 inch females with breeding stirpes but i think there is another internal factor that sets this off, but they are not ready for breeding.

Wait til she has eggs

she should start to plump up in the gut area and flesh out over the entire body.

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

3/4 of an inch? i said she was over an inch...and she realy is a real chunk lol, i found my camera last night (was hiding next to a tank) and i will just be charging the batteries today too, so, longer time for me but she is like real flirty with that male lol rubbing up to him and everything lol if i can find a way to load up a movie so you guys can see it (got it on adobie, but cant figure how to get it onthe internet..)

EDIT: oh, and she is the size of my other females i have, i dont have anymore giant females, i even have one smaller than her...

i often get very small betta girls as i no longer get larger females, and they are barred up.
