Is anyone anywhere noticing an increase in the fin length of pectorals in fancy bettas?

Are they showing up in anything other than red VTs?

I'm wanting to move them into a delta tail type (nothing more, poor devils have enough trouble with huge fins!) or even better, a HMPK type.

I like it, but the pectorals are the only real functioning swimming fin available to the fancy ones, so I'm really not sure yet.

that impressed hey? Aesthetics and practicalities aside, even purely as a genetics thing, I find it just mindboggling. Firstly, why were these fins the only ones that have not increased in length over this time, and secondly, why now?

Another (less extreme) fish.

He looks to be about 15 months+ (frilly caudal ends and way too much weight in the doral, makes him very 'free willy' in appearance) so it is unlikely that I'll breed from him, but he's got quite the personality and is a pretty strong swimmer considering.
