IMO the dorsals are already better, they are quite long in comparison to the father (his looked like it was attached by a little ribbon) and the colour, i'm not sure. they are getting more opaque as they age, but i'm concerned about red wash and those nasty black markings/speckles that the older pale VTs sometimes get. the father only had a small amount of black, and the mother had none, so my fingers are crossed! |

Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | I usually have a divided 26 gal tank, so i can split out the big boys from the bubs (for feeding, not hormones, cause dividers don't work for that) The 14g is only because i'm on super-limited space here at the moment. I have the 26 gal and the 44 gal in drydock waiting for when we move again... And i have a few 2 gals laying around. I *should* jar them, but having them jarred AND trying to teach them that pellets are food just doesn't work. its like well, blech. besides, i feel kinda guilty about jarring them if they are behaving. When I move, i'm getting a barracks wall, huge sump and UV and the whole shebang. Should make this whole growout thing easier... as would being able to feed them bloodworm stupid allergy. earthworm is doing OK though. |

Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | PRETTY You definately need a bigger tank, and start doing more water changesok so you are doing them once a day already, start trying for two times a day That should help with the hormone thing, that and/or remove the larger ones so the smaller ones can catch up... But, I love the one with the tinges of red...he's the little outcast heidi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well boy meets girl and it's a good bet Girl's gonna play a little hard to get But they both got the same thing on their mind Ain't that the way that the world goes round ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Callatya Moderator The girl's got crabs! Posts: 9662 Kudos: 5261 Registered: 16-Sep-2001 | Yeah, I was aiming for better dorsals and a better colour, and hopefully some improvement in immunity and deportment. They will be up for sale, i'll keep one pair, but they rest are on their way No point hoarding they are about 3 months old, hatched (artificially) on the 7/2/05 Not quite as big as i'd like, but they are getting there!
