Because I recently came down with Tang Fever I'm now in the position of having to do some tank/fish rearranging.

I've decided to re-do my 20l (long), which is currently an Asian-themed tank. I have a Betta coccina and 3 sparkling gouramis that I'd like to keep if I can find other homes amongst my tanks for them. Unfortunately buying any new tanks isn't an option

Right now I have a Paradise fish in my 30g community (neons, bottom feeders), snakeskin gourami in my 75g (cichlids, giant danios and loaches), and a betta that I've had for a year in a 5g.

Any ideas on how I might be able to incorporate the gouramis and/or the betta in any of these tanks?

Thanks

Hmmm, that's a toughie...

Maybe move the betta in the 5g to the 75g. He probably will have enough attitude and is big enough to avoid being eaten - and the tank should be big enough to avoid confrontation with the snakeskin...

Sparkling gourami to go into the 5, along with a boat load of plant clippings to give them some privacy.

Or maybe, depending on what kind of tangs you want, move your betta to the 75G, then make the 5g into a breeding tank for the brevis and move new tangs into the brevis' former spot?

i would move the paradice to the snakeskin tank, and move the red betta and the sparkling in the 20 gallon.

I was just going to ask if that would be an option. None of the other fish in the 75g bother the snakeskin and vice-versa.

So you don't think there would be problems between the Paradise fish and the snakeskin?

their shouldn't be, even though they both ar gouramies snakeskins should be very docile, and i know with mines, it was too large to be bothered by my paradice fish in the tank.

The paradise and snakeskin is probably the best combination out of all of those. The snakeskin is big enough to keep the paradise intimidated but too peaceful to actually attack. It's still not 100% certain it will work. Otherwise the sparkling gouramis may get along with the paradise but that still leaves the betta coccina and I don't know enough about them to tell whether they'd get along with the paradise or not. Any labyrinth fish bigger than a sparkling gourami but smaller than around snakeskin size will probably become a target for the paradise fish.
