Okay, here are the pictures of my female plakat's missing eye. I think it was columnaris that caused the entire problem, as a few fish broke out with it when their heat went out. Thus far, she has had the most disturbing damage, but yet of the fish who came down with it, she is the one who is living. She is currently being treated for it, and the fungus seems to have stopped. I started treatment with Jungle Labs Tank Buddies Fungus Clear, but now she is on a combination of Pimafix and Melafix. She was having a hard time eating at first, but was eating, now she is having a hard time eating, and just not really getting anything down. She sort of jumps herself up out of the water and breathes through her empty eye socket. The pictures are not the best to show the damage, but her mouth has a lot of damage on that side as well. I have considered "putting her down," but she just keeps trying, so I am going to give her every chance I can.

EDIT: I have to admit, these pics do NO justice to the amount of damage she really has. She kept turning at funny angles, and I was tired of trying to get any better pics. As it was, these were the last two shots I took.

Another shot of it...

EDIT: Also, I know that some would think this belongs in the hospital forum, but I would like it to stay here please and thank you! I am not really asking for help so much as showing her to the people who wanted to see her. Thank you so much!

As long as she is improving and adapting, I wouldn't consider putting her down. But you need to also consider the quality of life she is having. As long as you feel she is not suffering, then do the best you can for her.

That isn't as bad as I had imagined, however it is horrible. Just out of curiosity, are those black spots at the tips of the scales gaps or just natural coloration or maybe stress?

P.S. I'm not going to move it, and I hope the mods don't either. It will get the proper attention in here. I think most betta health questions should be in here anyway (even though yours isn't really a question.)

Like I said, those pics do not show you how bad it really is! I hesitated even posting them because they did it no justice. I figured I may as well get a couple pics though as I was doing a water change and medicating her again.

She always had a couple of spots, but as she has gotten older she has gotten more. I own her sister as well and she has the same spots, but no fungus, so I think it is just the line.

I don't doubt that it is bad, I just literally imagined half of her head completely gone... Either way, it is very unusual.

AWWWWWW!!!!

That is so sad! I have a guppy who is missing an eye to, got some fungus as a baby and it popped right out, seems to be happy though....
