Well I got my first betta home in a lighted; one gallonn; silk plant; dark gravel; and a small flower pot on its side. The tank is currently setup with a plastic plate under the gravel and a corner tube/air stone. I am not sure if the air stone tube bothers him or not. I hav notice that if he gets to close to where the bubble some out he gets pushed a little. Is having this on harmful to the betta. It may be good to keep the water moving around and make the water better for living in. Second question is should I feed him tonight or wait until he settles in, maybe in the am. Thanks.

Feed him whenever you feel like it. Also, the current may push him around a little, but with the airstone, there's not much you can do about it.

I just bought a one gallon similar to the one you described. Mine was for a betta also, thought the betta is for my dad since I'm moving out.

Congrats on the new betta

Does the airstone allow for any of the water on top to be still, IE: still enough so that he can make a bubble nest? I think thats the best way to determine whether or not to keep the airstone in.

I would feed him in the morning when he's settled in, that way he will be more accepting of the food and it wont cloud the tank. Good Luck, and HTH

I just hooked up a gang valve and slowed it down. He's good now, its on enough to keep the water moving slow.

i just moved Joey to a new home, it is a rectangle shape rather than the half moon shape he was. i think he can see much better and the filter doesn't create much of a current.

I am rather worried, Joey hasn't made bubble nest in months. i have tried re arranging the tank, slowing the filter changing his food, showing him a mirror etc.

this is almost my last ditch attempt to cheer him up. if this doesn't work i will get him an apple snail

good luck with your bettas
