Does anyone know what type of fish this could be? I think it's some type of Anabas... but then I could be completely wrong.

My first thought was a cichlid.

Did you take this picture or did you find it?
I'm curious about the distance between the fish in question and the opaline gourami in the back. The latter looks like an adult based on coloration and shape; that could help when you are looking at sizes.

Could be an Anabas, but it really doesn't look much like one....certainly not a Ctenopoma, though.
