Recently, I "remodeled" my fish tanks -- all five 2.5 Minibows as well as my 55 gal tank.... Granted, it was just a matter of changing out all the gravel rock for decorative marbles and "gems" --- but what a difference it made! I believe my Bettas are now living with the brilliant colors they deserve!!!

Actually the "change" was relatively cheap in most cases... Got most of my "marbles" at the Dollar Tree... so cost per 2.5 Minibow was approximately $2.50... and was able to pick up irridescent blue and gold... I also used some "regular" marbles from an over-looked Christmas present that had been tucked away and forgotten about last year.... And finally finished the Minibows by picking up clear marbles from Wal Mart (that's all they carried in the marble gems)...... I am a person who LOVES variety! So by keeping some of the tanks solid colors and some mixed, I'm happy to say that all of my tanks have a different look!

Now my 55 gal tank was more costly to redo of course ($44.00 approx), more because of the size than anything else.... But it truly is SPECTACTULAR if I do say so myself!!! This is the aquarium that I'm using for my female Bettas - and I LOVE IT!!!!

So what do you think of these pics of some of my favorites?

The above pic is of the blue irridescent... What follows is a very mixed tank of ALL the marbles I used in various ways (with the exception of the ones in my 55 gal)

They look lovely, but will the marbles and gems make it hard to clean? Especially the 55 g?

Don't know for sure yet.... But I really don't think it will make cleaning harder.... We use a Python system -- and the only problems we experienced with the gravel rock were with LARGE rocks -- they'd get stuck in the siphon tube and not allow full suction.... The gems I used were about the size of medium rocks --- so we're assuming cleaning will actually be easier.....

As far the marbles for the Minibows -- It should be just as easy if not easier since I manually clean these tanks... I utilize a large strainer -- dumping the rocks in and rinsing... The marbles, with their smooth surface should actually be a little easier than the rock gravel that had rough crevices...

At least that's what I'm hoping is true!!!!
