New girl - lovely white | |
kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | I picked up another betta girl today... this brings me up to ten betta girls at this particular time. I didn't MEAN to buy any fish today, but when I saw her pretty little self, I couldn't resist. She's a pure, clear white with a bit of red in her fins. I'm not sure if the red will spread, disappear or stay the same. Got some pictures, though they're not great. Should give you an idea of what she looks like. She's the first betta I've ever taken pictures of that didn't turn that goofy sea-green in a camera flash. The picture doesn't show the pure whiteness of her body color, but you get the idea. I still think she would be a beautiful match for my Platyor for your white male as well Great find, and you didn't do anything stupid, it was a simple rescueright heidi ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I ain't as good as I once was That's just the cold hard truth I still throw a few back, talk a little smack When I'm feeling bullet proof So don't double dog dare me now 'Cause I'd have to call your bluff I ain't as good as I once was, But am as good once as I ever was ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I think she may shape up to be a big girl though, as was mentioned. In either case, she seems to be a very laid back little girl... she didn't even react when I had two boys flaring at her in the LCPS. I've moved her around on heidi's suggestion, to make way for my big betta girl who has pop-eye. The big girl took over the two gallon, and lil white girl over here went into a one gallon for temporary keeping. This is getting complicated! ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

And yes, if she is more wimpy and small I would put her in the 12 gallon with the smaller girls when she's ready, until she get's to be nice and plump like the rest of the betta girls heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I used my digital camera which is uh... Toshiba PDR-2300. It's not the best camera in the world, but it can capture some pretty decent shots when it feels like it. She's doing well, very perky today. I have her right next to the 12 gallon so that she can see the girls easily... absolutely no signs of aggression, just curiousity. I really do have some good luck with finding good betta girls in that respect. If all goes well, she'll be joining the girls in a short while... she'll look gorgeous with the pale yellow and green girl already in there, and they're about the same size. I wound up getting two MORE girls today (I'm going to stop this!), so I'll go make up another thread for them. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | I wasn't pissy, just peeved with work... I went to visit that half-crippled betta boy I told you about... he was doing better now that he actually had room to MOVE. I was very proud of myself, cause I left him there for someone else to take home. I was really tempted to get this poor puffer (figure eight, I think)... his stomach is completely caving in, there's NO snails in sight. I doubt he's eaten much of anything. They're keeping him in freshwater with NO indication of how to keep him. Someone was going to get him for a community freshwater tank! Only reason I didn't get him was because I KNEW I wouldn't have the space for him. I've got three males (pale silvery blue with some colored streaks through the tails), two females (orangey yellow) and one platty(?) that hopped in for the ride. I think it's a platty, anyway... it's a young juvie... possibly female unless she decides to change. I know I'll probably be winding up with babies, as the males and females were kept together. Depending on when the girls decide to drop (they don't look particularly pregnant as of right now, so I'd guess it will be a while until they do), I'll have a fresh supply of betta boy food. *cough* Feather will be a plump little boy, methinks. Right now, the guppies are in a divided tank (males on one side, females on the other). Thankfully the house is acting as one big heater at the moment... ambient temperature is a steady 80F. Eventually, the males will be put in with my current males in the 12 gallon, the females will go in with my current females in the ten. The platty's(?) home will be decided once I can tell for certain what sex it is. Leaning towards female, but I've had a guppy surprise me in the end! ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
