With no male in my tank, several of my female Bettas are FULL of eggs.... Will they release them with no "male stimulation" or should I put them in with the male to complete the spawning process, even though I have no intention to actually become a breeder? Due to recently re-arranging my tanks, my females are all housed in dedicated to female Bettas 20 gal tank --- (Makes quite an elegant display! Got the idea from another thread on this site) -- Do I need to isolate the heavily, egg-filled females from the other females or will the others leave them alone?? At this point, all females seem to be getting along well with each other... What should I do?

just keep an eye on them if they get to full of eggs they could get egg bound. some times they drop eggs by them self but they normaly need a male to brace them.

they need a male to really release any noticable eggs. The male squeezes them out of her. It is not necessary for their health that they spawn.

Daniel, I'm out of available tanks --- but I have a couple of females that are quite egg filled! --- I realize that this isn't the "ideal" -- but could I use a "fish bucket" (only used for fish) and allow them to spawn - thus allowing my female to release her eggs???? I'm not sure if this is the route to go, since the bucket water wouldn't be heated or provide much filtration.... Still, I'm afraid of the female becoming egg bound --- I already suffered one loss by this condition earlier on in my fishkeeping....
Another question I have is, will my females continue to fill with eggs -- even though there is no male around?

Females will release eggs with no male around. If they get too full or really excited they sometimes will. Most females will release a bunch of eggs if they get too full, but you usualy wont see them cus they usually eat them.

If you are worried then you can do a spawn. Or you can try putting her next to a male. Sometimes if they havn't seen a male for a long time they get excited and drop eggs- happend to me a few times! I have serveral HUGE females but ive never had any of them die or get eggbound as they usually release the eggs themselves (i can tell because i see a few they missed eating) or just don't get any bigger.

I have noticed one of my females, who has been unsuccessfully spawned w/4 males now, seems to release her eggs at will. Guess she must be weird.....
