Ok, I got my co-worker a betta as some of you might know, and I'm teaching her the basic betta care and understanding of fish owning, water chemistry etc.

I got him like... 3 days ago now, he hasn't eaten ANYTHING, not even the freeze dried blood worms. All the other bettas I have ever had are always ravenous for food as soon as I get them home.

He looks good, healthy, swims around, acts normal.

How much longer can he go with out eating before I start to worry?

I'm going to bring in some pelleted food tomorrow and see if he accepts that because he won't touch the flack or Freeze Dried right now.

I understand that bettas can go over a week without food. How much over, I don't know. The bettas that I have kept have always been greedy eaters, I don't know what is wrong with this one...

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

The most common reasen for bettas not eating is if the temp is too low. Do you have a heater in the tank? If the tank is too small for a heater either get a larger tank or put the tank in a warmer room. If that isn't it, it may be that you just got him, let him settle in. If he doesn't start eating in 1 week I would start to worry.
BTW, bettas can go up to 1 month without eating. My brothers betta did just that, no matter what we did he wouldn't eat...he eventually died.

Ugg..I just typed out a lengtly post and somebody went and deleted it. Anyways:

The most common reasen for bettas not to eat is too low of temp. Maybe add a heater?
Also, bettas can go for a month without eating...wait a week or so and if he doesn't start eating by then I would start to worry.
Most bettas won't eat flakes, and Freeze Dried Foods shouldn't be feed as a staple diet, once a week is okay to feed them. Their staple diet should be pellets, try those.
Also, wherever you got him, go back and ask what they were feeding him. Maybe he just doesn't like change...

2 weeks is not uncommon. start getting a bit more desperate at about 8 days.

Well he at a little piece of the FD Blood Worm yesterday.
I tried to bring some pellets in today, but he wouldn't accept it. I'm tryin to convince the owner of the fish to stop feeding the FD Blood Worms for now until he adjust to a more normal pelleted or flake food.

You could ask the place were you got your betta what they feed there bettas. They may feed something different another brand, type of food etc etc,.
