I am always wowed by the bettas shown in Aquabid from the Orient. I would like to know if anyone has won any auctions from anyone from that area of the world and what their experience was like, how much was the final shipping and handling costs, would you do it again, etc.

Ok, I won a few of them and the fish didn't do so well, but I've heard that this isn't always the case and it depends on who you get them from. Shipping is typically $5 per fish to the USA then you get to pick from overnight(~$40) or 2 day($20ish) shipping to your door. Overall it was quite expensive and I wasn't very pleased with the quality, all the males were egg eaters, and died almost randomly though they were very beautiful fish.
I have heard good reviews of Wasan however and although his fish are quite expensively priced, if you want them to live and breed well I'd go with him next time if I do it again.

This again is one of those things that Leslie and I are contemplatingLeslie is the one more willing to buy the fish online and have them shipped, she did have good luck with the Albino BN...But, I'm cautious, that and the thoughts of spending $50 or so on shipping just bothers me

But, if it's worth it I'll be willing to go along with it, otherwise, I'd rather drive to someone here in Houston, or somewhere in the areaCould we consider San Antonio, DFW, Galveston, Austin, Beaumont, in the areaI know I wouldn't mind a road trip:%) heidi

You just have to be carfull who you buy from, and make sure to talk to their transhipper. If you are lucky and live near the transhipper it can save you a lot! But in most cases it can be prettty expensive.
