Hi,

can anyone tell me if a paradise fish would be OK with a Redtailed Black shark and / or Firemouth Cichlids or Altolamprologus calvus. What are peoples opinion on these fine looking fish.

i have a paradise,

he's very terrotial and enjoys fin nipping other fish, doesn;t matter what species.

i'd be weary of them, i had to move my paradise into his own tank he's casued that much trouble.

thats my experiance.

I don't see why a rtbs and a paradise fish wouldn't get along. However a firemouth will probably beat up the paradise fish. A calvus, being an African chichlid, is not really compadible with anything other than other fish from lake tang.

there are a few species of paradise fish. generally the bigger the more aggressive. I also think they're sligtly cooler-water than most tropicals. my advice owuld be not to get a paradise, sine it would be stressd from tropical temperatures, and hence even more aggressive. get pearl gouramis instead, they'll go fine with any fish.

I have found that it really depends on the paradise fish. I have had a couple, and their personalities differ. The one I have now minds his own business and leaves the other fish alone (fancy guppies, blue rams, angels). The other fish seem to mind their own business, too. If you have a fish that is agressive towards others, I'm guessing a paradise fish might fight back. In the end, it's your call if you get one or not. I think mine has a lot of personality, so go for it! ;-)
