Hi Guys,
I have a 10g tank, with 5 C. Hasbrosus and 5 adult guppies.
The problem is the fry. The ones in the tank now (about 40) will be grown out in a seperate tank soon, but for future fry, I was wondering if I could put in a single paradise fish to keep the fry population down or preferably non-existant?
Would this work?
Heres a pic of the tank:

you can. i personally would go with a male molly to take care of that problem, but a paradice fish may work too.

Yes, you can add a Paradise Fish & it will take care of your over populated fry.

Bettachris - I had considered a male black molly, cuz I have never had one and always liked them, but then I remembered I used to keep a male silver molly with some guppies, and I ended up with muppies. So, I think it would be better to not have something that would interbreed with the female guppies.
Remember, I also have other tanks, so if for some reason it didnt work out, the paradise fish could move into a different tank.
Great - I am going down to the LFS on friday to pick up my Denisoni Barbs- so I will grab a nice little Paradise at the same time.

could work, what about a gourami or a female betta?

I'd go with a female paradise myself and maybe the albino w/ red (like the oscars)

Every paradise fish I tried to put in a 10g with cories removed their eyes. Even in a well planted/decorated tank.

yes, guppies, platies, mollies, and swords can all interbreed with varying degrees of success.

I really like paradisefish, nice choice Dwarf gouramis are also good at population control.

I think guppies and mollies can interbreed and platies and swords can interbreed. Any other crosses would be more difficult

All of those mollies are the same species, just different color morphs. So, they too, can interbreed.
