Paradise in a Paradise | |
Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003 | For sanitys sake I'll say they're not going to be put in a pair of dice style tanks.... Got a 10 that's almost compleatly empty (two older danios that are likely to be moved)....thinking of a paradise fish for the temperature range their profile seems to state they can handle. Would one paradise fish be happy in a 10 gallon (US) or would it want larger...votes from those that have kept them please . ^_^ |

Not going in the goldie pond as it drops to the 50's in winter ...besides with the few in there it's already stocked *waits for meteor to make large crator in garden* *whistles* ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. Hmm it would have helped if I'd read that right the first time ...How fast of growers are they? Would I be able to have it in a 10 for a few months then move it to a 20? I realize this doesnt exactly answer the issue of what to put in the 10 gallon :%)...it's possibly for some multis if that ever happens, till then it needs something ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. If you want to use a 10, make a few different areas so he or she can choose which they want as their territory. Make it interesting |

They would tolerate no companions. In a 29g they were much happier and I kept them with a wider range of fish. They were more active than my blue gourami and definitely more than a betta. A small less agressive female would be fine in a well decorated/planted tank otherwise I would at least not add any other fish. I still have a cory and 2 otos with only 1 eye because of that. I bred several 100s of these guys over last summer in a 60g tub and found most of them to be too agressive for a very peaceful/small fish community tank. The stores that bought paradise fish from me said they had several returns and complaints about their fish removing the eyes of tankmates especially in tanks 20gallons or under. Maybe it was just the breeding of the paradise fish I had but I wouldn't put a male in a 10g or a peaceful community tank. That's why this year I went to spawning the small labyrinth fish like sparkling and licorice gouramis. |

Babelfish Administrator Small Fry with Ketchup Posts: 6833 Kudos: 8324 Votes: 1570 Registered: 17-Apr-2003 | Hmmm well the idea was to have just one either male or female (I'm guessing like most fish the males are the more colorful >.< in a planted 10g. I've started CO2 this week, and am transfering a bunch of rotala indica from my home tank where it's been getting a bit too much... There are the two danios in that tank right now (and a few hundred of their closest MTS friends)...the danios could easily be moved to the 20 if the paradise goes after them. Calla you're saying they need more swimming room than a 10 provides? ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. The hope that starts, The broken hearts... I've have about four paradise fish and some would be happy and laid back, and others would stalk the tank mates. If you had a paradise fish in a 10 gal, DO NOT PUT EDIBLE SIZED FISH in with him/her...unless you want it. Mine did population control for my Endlers I've got a fever... and the only presc |
