Platinum Gourami - Info Please | |
scott-c Fingerling Posts: 17 Kudos: 22 Votes: 1 Registered: 11-Oct-2004 | I today bought a Platinum Gourami from my local fish store. Does anyone know much about these? It has the similar markings as a Golden Gourami, excpet it is silverish (platinum!!!) in color with blueish shine on the fins when the light shines at the right angle. Does not seem to be shy at all, seems to be happy in all parts of the tank feeding away. I asked the fish guy if they where an albino of another gourami but he had no idea, so some more info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

The platinum gourami is the same fish as the blue/golden/opaline/three-spot gourami, the only difference being color. They have the same care requirements as the blue gourami. |

They get about 4" long, and are fairly peaceful as far as gouramis go. They have a tendency to be shy, however. This thread has some pictures I found[link=http://fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Labyrinth%20Lounge/61801.html]http://fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Labyrinth%20Lounge/61801.html" style="COLOR: #C000C0[/link]. If it is a blue gourami color variation it will reach around 5" and they are slightly agressive. Mostly they ignore other fish but may protect a certain area of the tank or plant that they like to hang out in. Some get along fine with other gourami species and some won't share their tank with even the opposite gender of the same species. It depends on the personality of the individual fish. |
