For the longest time he was a real meanie to anything new I put in the tank (http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/thread.asp?id=44502) but I wonder if that's because my nitrates were super high? Now that I've lowered the nitrates in the tank, he's darkened in color and for the first time ever has actually tried to build a bubble nest. I wonder if I should try to get him a mate again. What do you guys think? |

girlunderrainbow Big Fish Posts: 323 Kudos: 230 Votes: 0 Registered: 22-Aug-2003 | WEll, first I'd make sure you have lots of hiding places..like floating plants..and tall plants..so that girls could get away. Then, if you want to try for a mate again..don't get just one. I'd probably get 3 females..at minimum 2..so he can't pester one all the time. Assuming you have your nitrates under control. |
