Rams and bettas | |
ontariobetta Enthusiast Posts: 227 Kudos: 243 Votes: 2 Registered: 17-Jul-2004 | Anyone ever mixed these? I got a 60gal thats not really in use right now. I use it as a growout for my juvies, but I hate having it empy when I don't have any youngins to thro in it. So I saw some super cute little rams at the LSF today. And i wondered if they'd be alright with a bunch of little bettas or even a bunch of females as I might turn it into a female tank... ashley |

My worries about them with the male betta isn't the ram picking on the betta, it's more the betta picking on the rams. I have never seen or heard of rams being fin nippers, at worst I have seen them lip lock for a second then all was good. What you really need to ask yourself is, are they compatible with ph levels needed. I have read reports of bettas tails becoming mush when kept in a low PH. Blue rams need to be around 6.4. Can bettas handle that low of a PH? I dunno *shrugs* Bolivian rams like their water around 7.0. Both are very peaceful fish but my vote would be to go with the Bolivians. |

Especially when you've got dozens of juvies swimming around, they swim at all levels. Which is kinda annoying when trying to net them ashley |
