I saw a betta barracks slip into the main tank and all the bettas got out.

Instead of fighting each other, they all went into corners and found a hiding spot!

Mind you, this was a 3 second viewing before I grabbed a sales assistant at the desk and showed them what happened.

I thought the bettas would have started fighting straight away instead of finding a place to hide. weird.

I think just maybe he's saying he expected to see something bad and it wasn't happening so he was a bit suprised, I don't believe he was in any way saying it was a good idea. I'm sure he doesn't recommend putting a bunch of male bettas in the same tank.

yes that is right. I really didnt think I would have to state the fact that it would be MORONIC to put 2 male bettas in the same tank after writing up that topic header. I just found it strange that they didnt go kill each other as soon as they were released.

I also said that I saw it for 3 seconds before I realized what I was seeing before calling someones attention to it. I thought that the fish being cooped up in a barracks with nothing to do but flare at the neighbours would have gone to kill each other as soon as possible.

Really, each Betta was going to its perspective corner, before the fight could begin, then if given time, they would have come out, shaken fins, and faught till there was only one swimming... Great save, we don't need unneccessary violence...Heidi

its not that uncommon. I've accidentally put 2 males in the same bucket while i was changing water, and they just looked at each other a bit and went exploring.

I have no doubt that they would have had a bit of a tussle once they felt more ccomfy, but you usually have a good 5 minutes grace if they are all introduced at the same time AND if they have no aggression training.

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
