Poor Pursuit has passed on. He was part of my "American Ideals" type betta boy pack... Life, Liberty, Justice, Pursuit (of happiness), and the newest addition, Honor. Justice jumped ship, Life stopped eating and died, and now Pursuit died after what appeared to be a bout of constipation. Nothing I did helped (peas, fasting, etc). My beautiful steel blue crown tail!

This is getting depressing... I hadn't had any casualties for so long, and now it's all hitting at once. Two betta girls, three betta boys, a few black neons... all within the past few months. :#(

sorry to hear that. It seems like they die all at once and that makes it even harder.

Okay, after writing this, I found out that... that... that... he resurrected! Like, I looked at him and poked at him and he seemed awful dead, but it was just too depressing to flush him right then. And when I went to bed some time later, I took one last sad look at him and... he waved at me! And protested quite violently when I tried to move him from where he was, all curled up in the corner of his tank!

I guess I've been given another chance to get him better! Thank God I didn't give him burial at sea earlier.

...I think I've had enough shocks from my fish for now. NO MORE SCARING MOMMY! YOU HEAR THAT?! *glares warningly at her fish*

Wow Kitten That's a story all right...

For some reason, they all seem to pass on at once...I always wondered why this is.

I remember reading an article once on the back of a magazine, about a family who had this precious goldfish (yes, it was prolly in a bowl...but thats not the point this time) who the children ya know, were absolutely in love with, and one day the mom or dad found him in what they thought was dead. They took him out, gave him a little "poke" and he returned to swimming like normal, and lived on another 2 years at least.

Now, I know that sounds a little crazy...but I guess anything can happen.

I hope he pulls through for you Kitten...*fingers crossed*

Actually, I've seen quite a few bettas resurected after drying out (not that you shouldn't keep them covered at all times)

I had one boy who knocked off the top (might have been the cat) and jumped, far as I can tell he was out of the water for 4-6 hours and was resurrected, its been two years since then

*sigh* Fishy funeral. He was well and truly dead this time.

On the other hand, I was able to see what I couldn't see when he was alive... pineconing of the scales. Whether that was from the hugeness of his stomach or whether he truly had dropsy, I don't know.

In any case, at least he isn't suffering anymore. I don't think I'd want to be a fish that couldn't swim... and I'm sure up there in that big fish tank in the sky, he's his old gorgeous self.
