Sparkling Gourami? | |
CucumberSlices Banned Posts: 63 Registered: 11-Jul-2007 | In a 29 gallon tank, with two Clown pleco's (Panaque maccus), and Microrasbora Kubotai/ Galaxy, what would be the best amout of if at all any sparkling gourami to get? And would they adapt to the stronger water current and higher oxygen levels? There would be surface plants, and plenty of drift/ bog wood in the tank (for the pleco's). |

The oxygen level is not an issue and all gouramis will adapt to a higher water movement than they might naturally live in and can breed in but not to an unlimited amount. They won't handle river tank conditions. Generally you want at least 3-5 sparkling gouramis. They like company but will pick on each other a little so you need more than just a pair in order to spread out agression. Whenever I put mine in pairs one would get seriously beat up but as soon as I added a 3rd back into the tank they barely had a nick on their fins. The more you have the more peaceful they are. |
