I read the posts about too small of cups or irregular water changes for bettas. I can sympathize with that issue, but today I witnessed a new low. I went into a certain store tonight (was not an LCS or LFS), and this "mart" had THREE, YEAH THREE!!!, male bettas in one cup. There were shredded fins all over the bottom of the cup, but all of them were alive. Luckily, the water they were in was so putrid that they wouldn't even fight. I went ahead and filled the TWO EMPTY CUPS with tap water (our tap doesnt contain chlorine) and separated the three. I wish I could have bought them, but I couldn't. Still though, how cruel can you get?

I'm sure that the store didn't put the 3 in the cup. I'm sure that it was some lil jerk that thought it would be funny to do it. I wish that i'd catch someone trying it in front of me ]:|

Boy, what an irresponsible and mean thing to do!!!]:| Those poor bettas, I feel so bad for them already, kept in unheated, tiny containers. Now this happens...

Some people even try to steal them in their pockets (because they just need to stay wet to survive long enough to be stolen).

That's just silly, stealing a fish that only costs $2.00. Usually i manage to haggle them down to $1.00 if there's anything wrong with the betta. Some people just astonish me.
