Thick Lipped Gourami Vs Gaint Gourami | |
bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | is there a difference? i just got two pairs of gaint gouramies ( not true gouramies) and i was wondering if they are also called thick lipped gouramies just like the profile. mines have very simular markings it is just the pic provided is alittle different from mines. as the males are more enlongated and skinnier with a much sharper dorsal fin. i find it difficult to get info on this fish as alot of times it will bring up the "true" gouramies profile, and thats a completely different fish. |

C.Fasciata is sometimes called Giant Dwarf Gourami, also known as Indian Banded Gourami. The Thick Lipped is C.Labiosa and is very similar in appearance as Fasciata, both have the same blue and Orange striping. The sure way to tell the 2 species apart is by the anal fin. Thick Lipped has a rounded anal fin whereas Fasciata has a very sharp pointed anal fin. Try googling either Indian Banded Gourami or Colisa Fasciata and you should get more hits. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
