All fish should be given the best possible water quality 6)room temp is good. All fish should be given a stable temperature environment. The original post said it'd be in about a gallon of water. 1 gallon will shift temperature very rapidly especially if kept in a draft, or near a bright light that would cause the water to heat during the day and cool @night. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. Maybe in a one gallon bowl, but in tanks a little bit bigger ADFs, ghost shrimp and snails often make good tankmates. I have two 2.5 gallon betta set ups currently and I find this the best way to set them up. Commenting about what was said above, it is true that bettas tend to be hardy fish, but that wouldn't prevent me from using bottled or dechlorinated water, and keeping up with WCs because bettas love fresh water. Best of luck. Ferretfish attached this image: -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

terranova Fish Master Posts: 1984 Kudos: 1889 Votes: 229 Registered: 09-Jul-2003 | Thanks, he's a pet store betta too. Friend found him for me when our shipment came in one night, his name is Casper. <3 I feed mine with Hikari betta bio-gold when I wake up and before I go to bed. 3-5 pellets each time should do the trick quite nicely. It's not a huge deal if you miss a feeding either, so dont panic. It's a good idea to feed cut up deshelled peas once a week too to help with constipation. HTH... -Ferret EDIT: Grammar. ericm Fish Addict Posts: 573 Kudos: 448 Votes: 47 Registered: 21-Aug-2004 | What about normal betta flakes or frozen or FD bloodworms |
Posted 26-Jan-2006 11:17 | |
terranova Fish Master Posts: 1984 Kudos: 1889 Votes: 229 Registered: 09-Jul-2003 | Bloodworms are good for a treat, but not as their staple diet. Many bettas wont take to flakes, most aquarists have had better luck with pellets. There's no harm in trying though. -Ferret -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

bettachris Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3875 Kudos: 4173 Votes: 452 Registered: 13-Jun-2004 | i don't like flakes, but maybe thats just my bettas. with freezed dried blood worms u should let them soak, so that it doesn't expand inside the betta. again i wouldn't use this a staple food. as with feeding plans. my breeding stock gets feed bio gold in the morning, and color bits at night. for breeding and conditioning females color bits on a 100% diet. once and a while, froozen blood worms, FD blood worms, or live foods. for reg housed bettas. bio gold daily, FD blood worms once a week. color bits: this is my favoirte, makes the males alittle fatter than i would like, but great for females. unfortinaly it will make the water more dirty. also it should be feed to adults, only because it is very large. update: with a color, most LFS will have mixed colors, like red with blue. if you are going to breed him, always look for a nice solid color. no wash. but if he is going to be a house betta, then have fun. terranova Fish Master Posts: 1984 Kudos: 1889 Votes: 229 Registered: 09-Jul-2003 | You can get away with it, but in that case I'd do more than weekly WCs, prolly every couple of days. One gallon would be better... I really like the 2.5 gallon minibow set ups. They make great betta tanks IMO. -Ferret -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

ericm Fish Addict Posts: 573 Kudos: 448 Votes: 47 Registered: 21-Aug-2004 | I found one but im not too sure if they had vents on the hood. I found another one with a nice built in filter which was 1.77 gallons. Update: I saw the 2.5g mini bow but its a bit pricey but I found something similar for less that inclueds a built in filter but its 1.77 g and its available in 2.5g too. Kelly Hobbyist Posts: 103 Kudos: 48 Votes: 24 Registered: 06-May-2005 | I feed my bettas twice a day. They are picky, most of them only eat pellets. What I like to do is put 2 betta tanks next to each other and watch them flare their fins Don't forget to name him |
