I read on the Paradise Fish info page the following statement:

Comments: Quite intelligent and can be trained to jump through a hoop.

That would be awesome. How is this done? I couldn't find any info on this subject.

I've heard of this being done before. It was in an Australian fish keeping mag. I don't know if the author of the report was telling the complete truth though..........

Anyway, the owner/trainer first gets the fish used to the hoop, then coaxes it through while still underwater. (They use food to lure the fish through.)They gradually move the hoop upwards, letting the fish swim through it....... then once the fish is used to swimming through it at the very surface of the water, the lift the hoop out, fish on one side, food on the other............ and Hey Presto, you have a jumping Paradise fish. Or so the author of that particular report says....

they are very intelligent fish, i havent had time to train mine, but i have no hesitation in saying that you could

they are very clever and calm and can become very friendly

first step should be getting him to eat from your hand without hesitation that will help him trust you

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
