Victims of aggressive tankmates, that is! I was at the LFS and saw these two lil betta girls getting picked on by bigger, more aggressive females. Poor things! Since I'm softhearted and a collector of misfits and runts... well, yeah, they came home with me. Don't tell the 'rents!

Thought these two were really sweet and you should have seen them color up! When I saw them in the store, they were nearly white. Now you can see a definite difference in coloring, even if they ARE both still pale.

The blue-ish one reminds me of another girl I have... she was the same pale blue when I got her and now she's fabulously gorgeous with fins of cerulean and magenta against a pale pink body. The other is pale yellow green, which is different from any other girl I have. If she turns out ANYthing like my gorgeous yellow/green male, I'll have a future beauty pageant queen on my hands, I swear.

Obviously, they have some healing to do. They're currently in a two gallon kritter keeper. I just have to disinfect my extra heater before putting that in there. I've added a dose of melafix to get those fins back in shape, and we'll see how they do over the next few days.

Edit: Oh, right... they need names. My girls are all named after Greek goddesses... I've had the nine Muses, Iris (goddess of the rainbow) and Eos (goddess of dawn)... *wanders off to hunt for names*

Let's see. I don't see any of them as Hera.
Artemis - goddess of the moon,
Hestia - goddess of the hearth
Io and Daphne - nymphs
Thetis - daughter of Posiden, mother of Achilles
Athena - goddess of wisdom
Aphrodite - goddess of love
Psyche - wife of Eros
lots more names if you want to get into mythology and Greek legends.

*ponders* Thought Artemis was goddess of the hunt? *researches* How about the yellowish green one being Artemis and the blueish one being Selene? From what I can tell, the two are are often identified with each other. I was going to go with Hecate and Selene (goddess of Night and Moon, respectively), but I dunno. I rather like Artemis, too. *shrugs*

Kitten, that whiter one, she is from a doubletail line.
That dorsal fin is a dead givaway

GREAT FIND!

Heh... you know, I didn't even realize how very different the two dorsil fins were. Guess I paid a whole lot of attention! *smacks self* In my defense, I was more thinking "get those two OUT of there!" than studying them. *grins*

Actually, Diana is the Roman name for Artemis. Upon further research, Selene was the Greek name for the Roman goddess, Luna.

I just found out that Eos and Selene are sister goddesses. They had a brother, Helios, god of the Sun. Perhaps I can dub the blue-ish girl Selene for the moon and the yellowish one Helia, for the sun? (And to make the male name female. )

These three betta girls are all about the same size... I just got Eos a week or two ago. And yes, to reiterate, I have a soft heart for hard luck cases... I thought I'd lose Eos like I lost Iris (bought a few days before her), who probably died of shock at having CLEAN water.
