Two more to my crew... | |

After the loss of Equity, I just couldn't stand to look at his empty tank. No one will ever replace my little betta shark, but I wanted someone to say hi to every time I dropped my keys and cell phone on my nightstand. And of course, I couldn't decide between two of them... One is a simply lovely red butterfly veiltail. His body is red with a gorgeous lilac wash over it, half of his fins are bright red, and they fade to white/clear for the last half. He reminds me of my 'old man', Liberty, when he was younger. He has some minor fin rot, but he might be a combtail... sort of looks like it, but time will tell. The other looks quite a bit like my mom's betta, Prism. He's mostly blue, but with reds and greens throughout. He's a delta tail, maybe super delta... kind of hard to decide, as he hasn't really flared yet. He's got a nifty scalloping edge to his tail. The new butterfly has gone into Equity's newly scrubbed tank... He's so active that he'll be a nice friend to say hi to every day. I took Honor (yellow veiltail) out of the five gallon minibow, because he was terrorizing the newly added cherry barb pair. The new delta tail took his place because he was much more laid back. Honor went into Selene's tank, and she was transferred into the 20 gallon community with the other girls. Yes, it was a bit of a switcharoo. In addition, I brought home a new baby BN plec... he's settling into the 20 gallon with Selene and the rest of the betta girls and the motley cory crew. As an added bonus, I found out that the shrimp in the 20 gallon (which I haven't seen in ages) is alive and well. I tried to catch him and return him to his buddy in the five gallon, but he vanished. I probably won't see him for another few months. I'll get pics shortly so you can see my new babies. And they'll need names... I'm a bit clueless at the moment. As a refresher, most of the betta boys have "american ideals" names (liberty, justice, equity, honor, etc). My lamented albino BN was Daffy Dilly. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

I actually almost completely missed the second one because he was being all droopy and nonactive. (I still can't get him to flare.) But when I saw that tail... I just love the scalloped edges. ~Meow.
