Update on my female plakat missing half of her face!!! | |
Stormy Big Fish Posts: 357 Kudos: 606 Votes: 81 Registered: 13-Mar-2004 | Well, a few days ago I was ready to give up! I had decided it was time to euthanize rather than letting her starve to death slowly. I asked about it in chat, and all the methods were so horrifying and I was getting so depressed about the idea. I decided she needed to be given another chance. Days passed and as much as she tried, she could NOT get any food down. During this time, I kept treating her with a combination of Melafix and Pimafix. A week and a half passed and still no food got down her. I was starting to give up yet again. I had tried every kind of food possible, and she could not get any of it into her mouth. I felt so bad watching her try and try. Well, FINALLY yesterday she managed to eat! She got down about 1 out of every 2 pellets we tried, and it took a lot of effort, but she did it!!! I was so happy for her I could not get the smile off of my face! Today was even better... she is a bit slower about it, and has to try harder to do it, but she got down EVERY pellet I gave her!!! I guess sometimes when you think things are as bad as they can get, they can turn around and change completely! Yippy for my little girl! Once again she has earned her name... Tuff! |

I swear that Melafix is practically a miracle drug. Last fall when GoFish got sick and everyone was ready to give up on him we treated him with Melafix and he's still with us. I know how hard it is to make the decision to keep treating, or go ahead and say it is enough pain for the animal, and to have to make the other decision. That I had to do last January. After 2.5 weeks of IVs and feeding with a syringe my Simba looked to be making a comback, when he went the other direction...When the time is right it is us owners that must make the decision, I'm glad you decided to stick it out, as I'm sure she is...Heidi heidi attached this image: "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom."
