Wanting to breed CT betta's | |
bram4054 Fingerling Posts: 26 Kudos: 26 Votes: 14 Registered: 24-Jun-2005 | Hi @ll, Just thought i'd try and organise a check list for everything I may need to breed my new fancy CT betta. I have read up on it and there seems to be (as usual:%) mixed opinions - so I thought I'd ask my fellow fish fanatics. At the moment I have a 26 Gallon, but understanding I need a seperate tank for breeding I was thinking of a small 3 Gallon. Oh, if any people in the UK are after a local betta breeder try this guy. I highly recommend. http://www.kgbettas.co.uk/ regards, Achilles Last edited by ACHILLES at 05-Sep-2005 08:21 UK Betta seller - www.bramsbettas.com |

You need a culture of either MW or VE as a failsafe in case your BBS fail you at any stage in the first few weeks, and trust me, they can be fickle. And if you can't find a hurricane lamp, or even if you can, use a coke bottle and heat up a soldering iron and stab a few holes though it. this allows the male to 'smell' the female and produces better results than a solid container. Also, try different nesting materials. Nashi pear mesh is my favourite, but I also use bubblewrap, indian almond leaves, and on rare occasions, a half-cup. |
