Water Change Schedule | |
terranova Fish Master Posts: 1984 Kudos: 1889 Votes: 229 Registered: 09-Jul-2003 | Quick Question---After my last betta passed on, I got worried that my water change schedule maybe wasn't quite right. The tank is a 2.5 gallon mini bow, and it has the whisper filter on the lowest setting. Should I do partial water changes, or total water changes, and how often? Thanks -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |

I do 100% weekly water changes. I have 2 females in a 5g, sponge filter. That tank get a 50% change weekly. My son has 1 male in a 2.5g mini-bow with a Whisper filter. He does 10-20% changes every 7-10 days with no problems. He has one of the most active, fun male bettas I've ever seen. edit: Sorry to hear about your loss though Are you going to be looking for any particular type/color of betta? With Filter - up to 50% a week like already mentioned Without Filter- 75-100% a week, or 10-20% every few days...... I would think somewhere along these lines are okay....everyone does different %'s but usually add up to about the same at the end......of course the more fish, the more frequent the changes..... |

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm curious as to what others think, so keep posting. EDIT: ok went to the pet store to get filter media and I fell in love with a betta. Not sure if he's butt ugly or adorable, but either way i love him. He's yellow, and I think he might be a split tail or something. Not sure...but I'll post pics when hes done acclimating. I picked up a dwarf gourami too. [span class="edited"][Edited by ferretfanatic 2004-08-11 17:33][/span] -Formerly known as the Ferretfish |
